House 01 is done and dusted, and what a wonderful, challenging, and fulfilling journey it was.
You watched as we took an 80s hinterland Gold Coast home and turned it into
a coastal contemporary retreat – luxury outdoor pool and all.
Using Deb’s interior design experience and Andy’s practical renovation knowledge,
the home underwent a major transformation to bring homeowner Suzie’s vision to life.
We took the home from dark and dreary to light and bright, giving the family a brand-new space
to make lasting memories for years to come.

EPISODE 1 - KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY
The kitchen really set the tone for the rest of the renovation. We loved all the space that stretched
from the living room to the dining and kitchen, as it provided an airy, open feel.
A big window was added to bring in all the natural light the space needed, as well as a stone wall
to create texture – this ended up being one of the biggest hero pieces of the home.
The biggest challenge we faced for the laundry and butler’s pantry was the fact that there were no windows
– but we managed to bring in plenty of brightness with strategic lighting.

EPISODE 2 – LOUNGE AND DINING
Think: Coastal, Hamptons, A-frames, family home, texture, layers…
This was the vision for the lounge and dining area, and we brought it to life with a completely new roofline,
gorgeous bright-white tones, and complementary furniture, art, and décor.
To match the vibes of this open and free-flowing space, we replaced a brick load-bearing wall with pillars
for a feature wall with arches. These curved shapes brought a beautiful flow to the entire area,
with shelving to add an element of practicality.

EPISODE 3 - BEDROOMS
We were met with a four-bedroom renovation for House 01. The home felt a bit like a rabbit warren
with too many entryways between the bedrooms and other spaces, so we closed some of them off.
This let us create more comfortable bedrooms, with furniture able to be placed anywhere in each room.
For the kids, we made sure that their bedrooms felt unique to their personal styles,
whilst remaining cohesive with the aesthetics of the rest of the home.
The master bedroom had already been renovated recently, so it just needed a facelift inside
with some new furniture, art, and décor pieces to freshen up the space.

EPISODE 4 - RUMPUS AND OFFICE
We made space for two rumpus rooms, giving the family one TV room/media room, and one space dedicated to the kids.
To make the rumpus room more spacious, we removed an entire wall and added transparent panelling to the doors.
The media room was small, but we made sure it didn’t feel crowded by using white and neutral tones,
with simple cabinetry and a single sofa.
The study became a space for Suzie’s husband Greg to hangout with his ten guitars,
which we found space to store on the wall – pretty much any music-lover’s dream mancave.

that perfectly matches the sunny Gold Coast lifestyle.
The 16-metre swimming pool already brought an indulgent feel, but we resurfaced it
to make the area feel even more like a luxury resort – Hamptons style.
