The Block starred many talented home renovation enthusiasts, but none quite like Deb and Andy Saunders. These two fan-favourites from the hit Aussie reality show are back – but this time they’re on your screens for something a little different.

Meet DNA of Design – a brand new renovation series by Deb and Andy.

Filled with design and reno tips, gorgeous interiors, and plenty of laughs, this series is one to watch.

HEARTWARMING, PRACTICAL & FUN

DNA of Design is an exciting new lifestyle series following stand-up comedian Andy and homewares store owner Deb as they transform existing homes using practical renovation and interior design knowledge.

Appearing on the 2019 season of The Block, the couple instantly won over audiences with their easy-going nature, sense of humour, and trademark coastal styling – proving them an unstoppable team.

Although, one thing in particular stood out about their approach – their ability to prove that creating a beautiful home doesn’t have to break the bank – and that’s exactly what DNA of Design is all about. Deb and Andy want to show you just how simple it is to make your dream home come to life, without spending a fortune.

DNA of Design has heart and family at its core, pulling together themes of health and wellness, and intergenerational living. What’s more, it’s all delivered with Deb and Andy’s light-hearted, fun approach. On their experience filming their new series compared to The Block, Deb had this to say: “Filming DNA of Design is a very different experience to The Block where decisions were made at lightning speed under stress and with no sleep!”

“This time around we’ve had time to create a carefully considered space using all we learned on The Block and since then. I’m also studying interior design with the Design School which has been incredible. We’re using everything we know to create two new and exciting yet timeless homes, with more projects to come.”

GOLD COAST TO HAMPTONS

In Deb’s own words, “We wanted to make this series because we are often being asked about things we did on The Block and on recent projects.” “People are really interested in how we achieve the soft look and feel of our signature coastal style and palette. So far it’s been a lot of fun we still know how to enjoy ourselves and get the job done!”

LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

Originally from Wallabi, NSW, and parents to four children, Deb and Andy came in third position during their appearance on The Block. Just this year, they found themselves battling devastating floods. Sadly, their homewares store The Shed Luxe in Taree was destroyed among the chaos back in March. “That was devastating. Just prior to the floods we’d signed a lease agreement on a new larger store. We had to re-build our existing space while planning and renovating the new space. We re-opened on July 21 and people came from near and far to see the store although we had to close again recently due to COVID.”

“However, Andy and I aren’t strangers to challenges and together we’re an awesome team. We always say the difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them. We hope everyone can find a little moment of escape in our new show. We know so many have been experiencing hard times recently.”
